woot. woot.
ive been gone for a minute now im back with some new ish :-)
my new crack = Ill-Literacy and Invisible Ink
don't know who they are?
well find out!!
Ill-literacy is on tour right now so find their lastest show in a town near you!
Invisible Ink is based in boston but they too travel around so find them.
both of these groups are great. both a combination of poetic, musical and theatrical performance.
so you should go out and see.. BOTH
i mean i would sit here a talk about everything that happened and how i felt and post vids and stuff... but iono i feel like experiencing their show is a journey you have to have on your own (or with the person your sitting with ... woot woot Jaz! <-- peep el blog)
haha but really though, check them out. they're worth it and have A LOT to say.
ps. if your like a function coordinator or sumthin.... book them... then invite me to your event :-)
NEWHOOO i was reading some information about George Watsky from the group Invisible Ink and he is a pretty accomplished guy.
one thing that i was particularly amazed/jealous of is the fact the he was on Russel Simmons' Def Poetry Jam
okay ever since i knew this def poetry jam exisited (pretty long time ago) i wanted to be in it. I wanted to go on stage and make people laugh, make people cry, and make people think...
yea yea i know.. "you can do that anywhere"
"true lie" <-- invisible ink put me onnn! haha
why is it a true lie?
Because its the truth that i can go on stage and perform anywhere... but i don't think it will ever feel like it would on the def poetry jam stage..
see for me, def poetry jam is a very big milestone. i feel that being on there would make me an accomplished writer.
As many people who write, i'm really hard on myself. I've been published and stuff but to me that still doesn't mean my stuff is good... if and when im on Def Poetry Jam... i'll know that my stuff is good..
so how do i get there... and do i really want to get there?
welll i guesss i gotta get off my shy tip and perform... i mean there are plenty of spoken word shows, open mics, poetry slams and such around that i have no excuse...
even if i never get to be on Def poetry jam... i miss the stage... i miss the feeling i get when i perform. the high i receive from the attentiveness, applause, and the words that flow out from my heart. I miss it...
SO! ima step my game up.. and do what i gotta do...
bumpin and grinding and loud pointless degrading music gets old...
i'm ready to go to jazz clubs, and smooth talk the man sitting next to me with his acoustic type soul... im ready for a change.. And maybe along the way i can conjure up the courage to perform... and do what makes me happy.
wanna join?
peaceee

I wanna be a successful (happy) poet/successful spoken word artist :-)
